Massage therapy enhances the blood circulation by allowing more oxygen and some other nutrients to the body tissues.

This soothes muscle tension and calms the senses, increases suppleness of the skin and mobility of the muscles and joints, and helps remove the toxins and lactic acid from the body, which relieves pain in the joints and removes the stiffness in muscles.

Massage therapy is helpful for relaxation and also curing variety of health conditions:

  • Relieves Back pain
  • Inflammatory conditions like the tendonitis and arthritis
  • Relief from stress and other stress-related problems
  • Tackling headaches and severe migraines
  • Muscle and joint pains, spasms, sprains and strains
  • Curing repetitive injury from strains
  • Respiratory and Circulatory problems
  • Post surgical treatment and post injury

What are the procedures in a Massage Therapy Session?

A typical massage therapy session is conducted for about 40 to 90 minutes. The massage sessions start with brief consultation with the therapist who reviews the symptoms, lifestyle and the medical history.

The therapist takes the significant amount of light oil and applies on skin and conducts the massage. A full body massage generally involves massage being given on the back and then gradually moving down to legs. The massage therapist continues the massage on the arms, neck, leg and abdomen.

After the massage is done, the therapist leaves the room so that one can change. It is advisable to take time to get up as standing too quickly may lead to feeling dizzy and feel light headed.

Does Massage Therapy harm?

Massage therapy typically should not harm anyone. Seldom one may feel light aching when the therapist applies pressure on the joints and areas of muscle tension. When the pressure is too hard to bear it should be notified to the massage therapists.

Most people may observe the soothing, calmness and relaxation of their body after the massage therapy treatment. Sometimes though, people may suffer from mild temporary ache at the first session.

Please note: Always use recognised and qualified masseuse. If you have any doubts then get their advise before proceeding with the massage therapy. You can also ask your doctor for guidance.
